A chin implant with rhinoplasty or nose surgery can create more balance and harmony on a patient’s profile. A weaker chin can create the appearance of a prominent nose and significant disproportion of the face.
I like to use a shorter anatomic implant in most women so as not to create a more square jawline but simply augment the projection of the chin on profile. In men, I typically use an extended or longer anatomic implant to create a stronger and more square jawline while at the same time increasing the projection of the chin on profile.
A chin implant is easily inserted through a small incision under the chin where the scar hides easily. This can be done under local anesthesia or sedation. Recovery is typically 6 days.
